Thomas Vena: President

Thomas Angelo Vena is a Sport and Recreation Management major. Thomas entered the program in the fall of ’06 as a freshman with aspirations of one day working to promote professional ice hockey. For his junior internship, Thomas worked at Velocity Sport Performance in Warminster and later Hatfield, PA as the Business Operations Coordinator. As this year’s Senior Seminar class President, Thomas is planning on utilizing all his knowledge and experiences he’s obtained over the past few years to help run an efficient Senior Seminar class this fall. Thomas is currently looking forward to working with his fellow classmates to make sure that this year’s Career Day on November 11 at Mitten Hall is a complete success.

Kate Lukowska: Vice President

Kate Lukowska transferred to Temple after earning a Hotel Management Associate Degree from Delaware County Community College in 2005. She joined Temple in Fall 2007, with a major in Tourism and Hospitality Management. She completed her junior internship at The Hub, a meeting and events center in Philadelphia. Her future plans  include working in the tourism and hospitality industry in convention services, event planning or designing tourism experiences.

Laura Iuliano: Chair

Laura Iuliano is a senior Sport and Recreation Management major. She recently completed her junior internship at the Wachovia Center with the 76ers, working for Comcast- Spectacor. Her general area of interest is with professional sports. By May 2010, Laura hopes to graduate from Temple and continue to work for a professional sports team in the Philadelphia area. 

Amanda Ward

Amanda Ward is a senior in the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, majoring in Tourism and Hospitality Management.  She completed her junior internship at the Greater Johnstown/Cambria County Conventions and Visitors Bureau in Johnstown, PA.  Amanda is most interested in Event Planning and Management.

Kathleen Rafferty: Chair

Kathleen Rafferty is majoring in Sport and Recreational Management. For her junior internship, she worked in the Building Services Department at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia. For her senior internship, she wants to work with a soccer league, professional or minor, in Game Day Operations, Event Planning or Community Relations. When she graduates in May, she would like to position herself to be able to get involved with the 2014 World Cup or work with the United States Tennis Association at all the Grand Slams. 


Joseph-Vincent Starecky

Joseph-Vincent Starecky is a Sport and Recreation Management major with a Business minor.  During his collegiate career, Joseph has interned with the Fox School of Business, as well as Temple Athletics.  For his junior internship, Joseph chose Global Spectrum at Citizens Bank Park where he served as a Housekeeping Intern.  Currently, Joseph works as a Quality Control Specialist for ARAMARK Facilities at Lincoln Financial Field.  He would like to work in Sales for a professional sports team or a collegiate athletic program upon graduation.

Candice Moore

Candice Moore is a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Tourism and Hospitality Management. Her future goals include management and ownership of a hotel in or outside of the United States. She has interned in a variety of positions ranging from Sales and Special Events to Operations. She is hopeful for a world of opportunities awaiting her upon receipt of her degree.

Erin Knoblauch

Erin Knoblauch is a student in the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. She enrolled in this elite program as a freshman in Sport and Recreation Management, but decided that she was more interested in Event Management and so switched  to the Tourism and Hospitality Management major. She completed her  junior internship at J.Cabot Catering in the summer of 2009 and hopes to perform a senior internship in the Special Events field.  She is still deciding on what type of Event Management she would like to get involved with after graduation, but hopes that her senior internship will give her a better idea.

 

Megan Anthony

Megan Anthony is a senior in the Tourism and Hospitality Management program, and is also completing a minor in Business. After completing her junior internship at the Ladder 15, a new restaurant and bar in Rittenhouse Square, she knew the career she wanted to pursue. The fast pace and creative problem solving needed for the event planning and marketing for a new restaurant is intense and exciting. One day, she hopes to have her own environmentally-friendly restaurant and bar along a tropical shore, creating jobs in a desolate community. She can't wait to become a Temple University alum and start her career.

Lascelles Chambers: Chair

Lascelles Alexander Chambers entered Temple University in the Fall of 2005. Originally a Sport and Recreation Management major, after extensive research he changed his major to Tourism and Hospitality Management. From Fall 2007 to Fall 2009, Lascelles was President of the Omega Delta Delta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated on Temple’s campus. Lascelles has become involved in numerous organizations while at Temple University, such as Main Campus Program Board (MCPB), the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality (NSMH), the student-run radio station WHIP, and STHM Student Association. Lascelles completed his junior internship at the Multicultural Affairs Congress, where he learned a significant amount about Communications and Marketing. Lascelles acquired a summer marketing internship at ARAMARK in the facility services department after attending a college recruitment seminar on Temple’s campus. He  was offered an extension through the semester, where he still currently works as he completes his college career. Lascelles hopes to one day apply the skills that he learned to a career in Marketing with the Hospitality industry.

Caitlyn Scudder

Caitlyn Scudder is majoring in Sport and Recreation Management with a minor in Business Management. She entered Temple University in the Fall of 2006 as a freshman in the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. She has since completed two internships-- one with the Brockton Rox Professional Independent League Baseball team and another with the Philadelphia Sports Training Center.  Along with working for the Philadelphia Eagles since the 2006 season, these experiences have exposed her to many different aspects of the Sports industry. She hopes to pursue an internship in the Community Relations field and continue her studies in law school to eventually work as a liaison between charities and professional sports teams.

 

Elise Coyne

Elise Coyne is a Sport and Recreation Management major. Recently Elise completed her junior internship at Bucksmont Indoor Sports Center, working in Operations. In 2007 Elise completed an internship with the Philadelphia Eagles Ticket Office, and is currently employed with the Eagles. After graduation, she would like to pursue a career with a college or  professional sports team.  

Valerie Heller

Valerie Heller entered the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management in the fall of 2006, majoring in Tourism and Hospitality Management. Valerie has completed two internships,  a junior internship with Public House Investments, interning in the Sales and Marketing department, and a week-long internship with Harith Productions, assisting with a pharmaceutical sales Conference. After graduation, Valerie would like to work in the Event Management field.

Marley Abram

Marley Abram is a senior Sport and Recreation Management major. During his time at Temple, Marley has worked as a member of the support staff for two USA Basketball Junior National Teams. Marley has also spent time in the Philadelphia 76ers organization as a Community Relations Intern. After Marley graduates, he hopes to pursue a career coaching college basketball.

Patricia Kaisinger

Patricia Kaisinger joined STHM as a Tourism and Hospitality Management major with the goal of entering the industry in Hotel Management. With a junior internship at the Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association, she gained great experience in event management, professionalism, and networking. She is eager and excited to be part of the Senior Seminar class, and looks forward to furthering her experiences with her nearing senior internship

Traci Cornwell

Traci Cornwell is a senior studying Tourism and Hospitality Management. She chose Temple based on the diverse city and the strong representation of the STHM program. Over the last four years, Traci has worked in various positions in both the hospitality and sport and recreation industry. She has worked in sales, food and beverage management, marketing, and event planning. Her future career goals are to work with convention services and food/beverage while adding travel into the overall job. She'll be making an appearance on Philly's streets, running the 2009 Philadelphia Marathon on November 22!

Robert Kang

Robert Kang is a Tourism and Hospitality Management student. He completed his junior internship with Gloss Public Relations, working with marketing and special events on Rittenhouse Row.  He hopes to take his interests and experience into a career in Meeting, Conference and Event Centers or Special Events. Outside of school, Robert stays active by participating in his church’s Sunday school teaching program and drama team.  He also competes in two competitive soccer leagues.

Viji Simon: Chair

Viji Simon is a Tourism and Hospitality Management major. She performed her junior internship at Omni Hotel at Independence Park in Philadelphia. She would like to pursue Hotel Management, and her areas of interest include Meeting and Conference Management and Human Resources.

 

Caroline Olson

Caroline Olson came to Temple University in the fall of 2009 as a transfer student.  She is majoring in Tourism and Hospitality Management, with a concentration in Destination and Event Management.  Caroline has recently just finished her junior internship at the Independence Visitor Center Ballroom. Upon graduation, she plans to become an Event Coordinator.

 

Jason McKee

Jason McKee is a Sport and Recreation Management major. He completed his junior internship with the Philadelphia Flyers Fan Development Department and hopes to fulfill his senior internship with another professional hockey organization. After he graduates, he plans to pursue a career in the hockey industry, focused primarily on Community Relations, Public Relations, or Advertising.

Gida Musaj

Gida Musaj is a young professional with an undying ambition to her work and studies with a continuing commitment to her community. She is a Tourism and Hospitality Management major with a minor in Business. Having completed an Internship at Bally's Hotel and Casino in the Marketing department, she plans to pursue a career in that area. Hopefully she will find another internship which will help her gain more knowledge and challenge her to be the best.

Kalvin Louw

Kalvin Louw is a Tourism and Hospitality Management major. For his junior internship, he is working with the Public Relations Department at the Franklin Institute. In the future, Kalvin hopes to combine his love of sailing and travel with his career ambitions in the hospitality industry.

Alina Alter: Chair

Alina Alter began her undergraduate degree at Cornell University before joining STHM as a Tourism and Hospitality Major. She has since worked for Starr Restaurant Organization, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, and most recently, the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia. Alina spent the 2009 spring semester in Tokyo, where she began studying Japanese, her fourth foreign language. Alina looks forward to working in the exciting hospitality industry and hopes to eventually own and manage a trendy boutique Bed & Breakfast. .

Nicole Bizuga

During her four years at Temple, Nicole Bizuga has developed her leadership skills as the STHM Student Association Representative, Community Service Chair, and Marketing Coordinator, and Co-Captain for STHM's Relay for Life team. Nicole became an active member of the Executive Board for the Sport and Recreation Professional Association (SRPA). As SRPA President, she wants to see the organization expand and help students find and gain more exposure to their concentrations through forming committees. Nicole is also the Social and Fundraising Chair of Alpha Sigma Rho sorority, a female Asian interest organization on campus. The organization has opened her to new cultures while still focusing on the local community through volunteer opportunities. For her junior internship, Nicole interned with the Wachovia Center Marketing Department.  She learned firsthand about developing and selling ideas as well as tickets to customers, and also worked on Flyers, 76ers, and Wings games.

 

Kamal Tucker

Kamal Tucker is a senior majoring in Sport and Recreation Management. Kamal entered the program in 1999 and returned to Temple University during the Fall of 2008. Kamal is the proud father of a two-year-old, Kamal Junior. He has a passion for sport and how it can positively influence the lives of so many people of all ages, gender and race.

Pavlos Stephanides: Chair

Pavlos Stephanides is a Sport and Recreation Management major. He transferred to the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management in 2007. Pavlos played for the Division I Temple tennis team from 2006-2009. He interned with the Philadelphia Freedoms professional tennis team for his junior internship in the summer of 2009. Pavlos hopes to develop professionally through Senior Seminar in order to jump start a successful career in Sport Management.

Erin Higgins

Erin Higgins is a Tourism and Hospitality Management major with a concentration in Destination and Event Management. Erin completed her junior internship at Ortlieb’s Jazz Haus, a historical landmark in the Philadelphia Jazz scene, as the Marketing and Events coordinator. Erin has great interest in Tourism Development and Marketing and hopes to complete her senior internship in a CVB or DMO office.  Erin aspires to one day work in International Tourism Development and Marketing, combining her love of travel with her career interests.

 

Diane Nobles

Diane Nobles is a Tourism and Hospitality Management major and began the program in Fall of 2007.  She completed her junior internship with Cities2night.com at its main offices in Philadelphia while working under the Assistant Director of Marketing and assisting the company with revamping its business.  Diane hopes to acquire an internship sampling several aspects of the hospitality field to gain more knowledge and experience in the industry to prepare her for the future

Angela Oh: Chair

Angela Oh is a Tourism and Hospitality Management major with a Business minor. Angela has worked in several hotels and restaurants worldwide, such as The Royal Garden Hotel in Hong Kong, banquet halls in Seoul, Korea, and Starr Restaurants in Philadelphia. Angela is an active member of Temple University's HSMAI (Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International) Chapter as the Director of Membership for this student professional organization. Angela hopes to continue traveling around the world to pursue her career in the Entertainment and Events Production sector of the hospitality industry.


Kathleen Nagele

Kathleen Nagele is a Tourism and Hospitality Management major with a concentration in Destination and Event Management. She completed her junior internship at the National Constitution Center. After graduation, Kathleen hopes to work managing special events, possibly in the entertainment industry.


Nicola Gleason

Nicola Gleason is an enthusiastic Tourism and Hospitality Management major with a minor in Spanish language. She completed her junior internship at a wedding planning agency, and looks forward to completing her senior internship at an Event Management agency that specializes in both social and corporate events. At Temple, Nicola has been involved in Temple's Honors Program community, and successfully helped plan twice the End-of-Year banquet for 200 people, along with other smaller scale events. Nicola studied abroad in Granada, Spain in the fall of 2008, and this experience has been an  impetus for her to learn more languages, live in more cultures, hear more peoples' stories, and help others to understand that tourism and events are more than a coordination between fun and travel, but also tools to enhance communication among people everywhere.
